A humble beginning

The Poussière D'Étoile soap factory was born from a mother's desire to relieve her child's skin problems.

In 2004

Guylaine Dubois began her journey with passion in the world of handcrafted soaps and natural body products. In the very beginning, the products of Savonnerie Poussière D'Étoile were made with natural ingredients, but donkey milk was not yet used!

The discovery of donkey milk

When Guylaine had her second daughter, she quickly noticed that she had some skin problems, including eczema. Seeing that most products on the market often proved irritating for sensitive skin, Guylaine set out to find her own solution to help her child.

After numerous experiments and formulations, her research led her to discover donkey milk, an exceptionally moisturizing and gentle milk. Amazed by its exceptional properties, Guylaine began making her soaps with this new ingredient.

The first shop

Guylaine knew what she had to do: share this discovery with the world.

She quickly won over her customers with her fresh donkey milk products and expanded her line to include skin creams and bath products. Everything was available in a small shop in Dunham. During those years, she was also a regular at the Montreal Craft Fair.

Donkey milk

A major challenge arose from the outset. Fresh, high-quality donkey milk was very expensive and not readily available on the market.

But more importantly, it was extremely difficult to achieve the quality control she wanted.

Faced with a difficult decision, she took a big step forward; she decided to have her own herd of donkeys to guarantee unparalleled freshness of donkey milk.

A real favorite!

In 2016, she fell in love with the beautiful town of Percé while visiting it during the holidays. She decided to move her shop, farm, and family there.

Today

Poussière d'Étoile products are now sold in over one hundred points of sale across Quebec and Canada.

Guylaine continues to be involved in production, the shop in Percé, as well as a multitude of other initiatives leading to the promotion of the beautiful town of Percé.
